lecture: Blockchain: the top 10 security disasters

Event_large

Many blockchain platforms support tokens, holding a total value of
hundreds of millions, if not billions of euros/dollars. Yet these platforms’ protocols often consist of experimental rather than well-tested and analyzed protocols. Furthermore, the underlying software is rarely as mature and tested as it ought to be for such critical applications. As a consequence, security vulnerabilities are regularly found and exploited, typically to steal tokens or create value out of thin air. In this talk, based on my experience reviewing blockchain applications, I’ll go through 10 major vulnerabilities found in popular cryptocurrencies, explaining their root cause and actual impact. Goals of this talk are to warn developers of the possible vulnerabilities, and inform investors of the potential risks in token platforms.
